West Africa Children's Trust
Sponsorship
..............................................................................................................

The story began in 2002 when Marilyn, the chair of the charity, was visiting The Gambia. She started sponsoring a small boy who was sleeping under the stairs. A year later, she started sponsoring his sister. The benefits were huge. From this small foundation, the sponsoring of children slowly grew. To date we have a number of children who are privately sponsored. The sponsoring allows the children to have an education, which would otherwise be denied. The charity also provides clothes, shoes, school uniforms and educational materials. The charity also pays for school lunches as, for many children, this will be their only meal of the day. The charity helps these children so that they can have a brighter future. We also pay medical bills to ensure the children's welfare needs are being met. To date, two lives have been saved through the work of the charity.

There are thousands of children needing help and our efforts need to be concentrated in order to gain maximum benefit for the children. See below for some pictures of the many children that we are helping.
